IT'S NONE OF CONGRESS'S BUSINESS:
Why attorney firings kicked up such a huge fuss (Adam Sichko, 3/18/07, St. Louis Post-Dispatch)
They're political appointees who serve at the pleasure of the president and can be removed at any time. So why the big flap over the recent firing of eight U.S. attorneys?
Because the Executive happens to be a conservative Republican? Posted by Orrin Judd at March 18, 2007 9:49 AM
More precisely because the Executive happens to be an acknowleged Christian.
Posted by: Lou Gots at March 18, 2007 11:09 AMDuh. Because the MSM and Dems said it's so? Coverage of this sort is maddening, but expected. I think though, for people that have actual lives and don't concern themselves with this sort of drivel, it's meaningless background noise. But I'll have to wait and see what Tim Russert says about it.
Posted by: JimBobElrod at March 18, 2007 11:15 AMNow that Russert's off the hook, he'll start getting a lot more mouthy.
Posted by: erp at March 18, 2007 12:21 PMBecause Bush is "Eeeeeeeeeviiiiillllllll" according to the moonbats, and sooooooo, these firings must be part of some eeevvvviiiilllll right wing plot to destroy what remains of this democracy. right?
Posted by: Dave W at March 18, 2007 2:30 PMBecause Bush wasn't smart enough to fire them all on taking office, or shortly thereafter, as Rove claims Clinton did. With BDS rampant before his second term, how Bush could have trusted them is beyond me.
On the other hand, this may be another Rove pitfall to keep congress busy while Bush gets some things done. I just hope the public gets tired of all this crap from the hypocrats.
Posted by: Genecis at March 18, 2007 4:36 PMRove claims? Gen. it was in all the papers, Reno gave them all their walking papers.
Posted by: erp at March 18, 2007 6:41 PMErp, Rove made the claim last week, as reported on TV, and used some numbers that seemed questionable based on other iterations, therefore I use the word claimed. I don't read the papers anymore. I use them for their intended purpose ... starting fires ... WSJ excepted.
Posted by: Genecis at March 19, 2007 7:47 AMGen, I don't have the numbers either, but the blood letting was wildly applauded in the media, so I guess it was true.
Rove should stop making statements to the media.
In fact, everyone in the administration should stop talking to the fifth columnists. Let Tony Snow do the talking. He knows what to say and how to say it. I owe him an apology, I didn't think he was the right person for the job, but I was wrong and he's the exactly right person for the job, so everyone else should step back and let him do it.
