CAN'T GET NO POSTAL SATISFACTION:
ScienceDaily: In-town Chicago mail system worst in U.S. (UPI, 3/11/07)
A report that Chicago's in-town overnight mail delivery is the nation's worst appears indicative of the city's overall problem with postal satisfaction. The Chicago Sun-Times said that in addition to Chicago's struggles with in-town mail delivery, the Illinois metropolis has been failing in nearly every postal area related to customer satisfaction.
While 92 percent remains the average quality rating of U.S postal delivery, only 77 percent of Chicago residents rated their mail services "excellent, very good or good."
When we lived in Lincoln Park we had the worst route in the country, including a postman who's alcoholism got so bad that he just left an old truck on a side street and tossed in bags of mail he didn't get around to delivering. They actually delivered mail on a Sunday once to try and make it up to us.

Unfortunately, not much has changed although we have individually been fortunate to have had several excellent delivery people over the years. Recently we've been getting mail delivered well into the evening. I saw two carriers last week unloading from a truck at 6:30 pm. We NEVER get sales flyers until well past the end of a sale.
