NOW THAT WE'VE GOT THAT CLEARED UP:
A Fundamental Evil (Doug Soderstrom, 31 January, 2007, Countercurrents.org)
I have come to the conclusion that the Christian fundamentalists, also known as the religious right, are the most evil people in the worldPosted by Orrin Judd at January 30, 2007 8:01 PM
Well, I read the whole sorry piece of trash.
Let someone else do the "Fisking," if he or she may care to: there are so many errors and non-sequiturs that a child could do it.
All I really needed to see was that line in about the middle, wherein the writer identifies Christian fundamentalists with the National Rifle Association. An interesting connection---a false one, but it tells us something about how the man thinks.
As a totally lost folk-enemy and culture-traitor, it is our entire people and spirit from which he is estranged and against which he rails. Religious people are by no means of one mind on the right to keep and bear arms, but this witch makes the false identification. In his mind, the RKBA is part and parcel of the pattern of individual worth which comes with the Faith.
As a believing gun person, I am doubly flattered.

I posted a comment and offered a free fisking on my radio show.
I doubt the guy will call in, but if he does and y'all want some entertainment...

Two thoughts - anyone who cites John Dean to attack 'fundamentalist Christians' is seriously unaware of what he is talking about. Second, to say that Christians seek to ignore the 'normal restraints of man' pretty much gives away the game. This guy probably has a poster of Nietzsche, Marx, or Sartre in his bedroom.
Finally, he can't even muster up a stock comment about the Taliban or the Saudis when it comes to the oppression of women, so I guess he grades them better than he does Jerry Falwell. Very revealing, I'd say.
Posted by: ratbert at January 30, 2007 11:37 PMLou, is it the season ya think, because I can't even be bothered to read this kind of drivel never mind fisk it? Like Mr. Perlstein's stuff, it's just been around for long, it's lost all meaning if it ever had any.
