JUST CURIOUS:

Auburn outlasts Nebraska to win Cotton Bowl (1/2/06, ESPN)

Carl Stewart played the role of unlikely hero, making Auburn's first victory over Nebraska a big one.

Stewart scored a pair of touchdowns and No. 10 Auburn received a big performance from its defense in the second half en route to a 17-14 victory over No. 22 Nebraska in the Cotton Bowl.


Skipping over the deplorable result, did anybody else catch this game and think that Pat Summerall perhaps had one too many at the New Year's party?

He better not have. He had a liver transplant a couple of years ago after he quit drinking in 1992.

It's tragic that he doesn't have family or friends (let alone bosses) who stop him from working. Even several years ago, he made John Madden sound coherent.

Pat admitted years ago to having a drinking problem. Maybe he fell off the wagon, although he is getting up there (maybe it was some meds he is on).

I didn't think the result was deplorable at all. : ) Go SEC!
