100 MILLION NEW AMERICANS ARE WORTH TWO YEARS OF SPEAKER PELOSI:

Congress open to passing bill on immigration (Charles Hurt, December 4, 2006, THE WASHINGTON TIMES)

Congress will approve an immigration bill that will grant citizenship rights to most of the 12 million to 20 million illegal aliens in the U.S. after Democrats take control next month, predict both sides on Capitol Hill.

While Republicans have been largely splintered on the issue of immigration reform, Democrats have been fairly unified behind the principle that the illegals currently in the country should get citizenship rights without having to first leave the country. [...]

House Republicans and many outside Congress derided that bill as "amnesty" for allowing illegals to remain in the U.S. and eventually become citizens.

Boy, National Review and company sure taught the GOP a lesson, huh?

Southern dems ran to the right on this, one of the first votes right out of the box, and with Mexico's right and left fighting, even more will be coming over the border - as refugees.

We've never lived next to those political troubles, should be very, very interesting.

It's always odd to see OJ cheering this, when most of them will vote Democrat....

The 1st generation of every immigrant group votes Democrat, by the third they're Republican.

What a lesson! Now Bolton is gone, presumably to be replaced with a Dem partisian, our taxes will increase, illegals become legal Dem voters right away, good bye to privatize SS, say hello to single payer health care. What else have I missed? Blame Bush if they want, but say good bye forever to a conservative realignment and Rep rule in the foreseeable future. Nice temper tantrum. Never read National Review again. Those self-righteous arrogant fools disgusted me more than the Dems ever did.

Bolton will be replaced by someone who believes the same things but isn't a cretin. Taxes will go down, not up (the AMT reform). And we get 100 million new fellow citizens. The other reforms need 60 GOP senators not the 55 we had. Win. Win. Win. Draw.

Maybe, but in the 50 years or so before that happens, the Democrats can run the country into the ground. Good luck trying to undo socialized medicine.

America is nowhere near as fragile as the far Right always insists.

Ahhhh, go down for the high-tax blue states, but the red states.......

We don't pay the AMT.
