Bush wants more countries in visa-waiver program (Mimi Hall, 11/29/06, USA TODAY)

President Bush said Tuesday that he wants more countries in a program that allows foreigners to stay in the USA without visas, despite criticism that the move could open the door to terrorists.

"We want people to come to our country," Bush said in Tallinn, Estonia, one of several European countries that have asked to be included in the visa-waiver program, in which 27 foreign countries now participate. "It's in our nation's interest that people be able to come and visit."

Bush said his administration aims to add more countries to the program, created to facilitate tourism and business travel 15 years before the 9/11 attacks increased fears of terrorism.

To avoid charges of racism NRO and others will have to come out strongly against eastern european immigrants as they have against latin america immigrants. On a related note, they are still beating the drum that the GOP losses in the election were do to be too weak on immigration.

I don't think NR is aware how much they lost over the Miers tantrum..........

What exactly did they lose except Miers candidacy? You don't think that this insular administration is really listening to anyone outside the tent do you?

From where I stand, Bush is the one losing ground with his conservative constituency while NR and NRO and nothing more than accurate weathervanes of discontent.

Oh and Orrin, another two years of 43 undermining the conservative agenda will leave Brother Jebb DOA for any future Presidential prospects.

AWW, they'll be happy to do that. They'll proclaim that the muslims coming from Europe will ruin us like they did Europe.

Ray - NR and NRO ripped Reagan to shreds as a non-conservative when he was in office. Now he is a sainted figure of whom no ill word can be said. They will do the same for Bush in 20 years.
