WELCOME BACK
Sorry abut the recent outage here! Movable Type, the software we use to run the blog, was causing issues on our shared server, so we had to shut it down. We moved over to a new server, but then had issues getting Movable Type up and running there. It's working now, and I'll be trying to improve the performance/responsiveness over the next few weeks.
Posted by Stephen Judd at November 17, 2006 5:38 AMSo glad you're up and running again!
Posted by: DCJ at November 17, 2006 5:45 AMNice to be back home.
Posted by: erp at November 17, 2006 8:14 AMI blame Nancy Pelosi.
Posted by: Peter B at November 17, 2006 9:20 AMOur long national nightmare is finally over!
(I suspect the server shutdown had something to do with the Sawx outrageous bid for Matsuzaka. I haven't worked out the details yet, but black helicopters were also involved somehow.)
Posted by: Jim in Chicago at November 17, 2006 9:34 AMDitto Erp.
When the site stayed down for so long some of us feared a Commie plot. Thank you for getting it back up.
Posted by: Lou Gots at November 17, 2006 9:37 AMBlack helicopters? They only show up in Manhattan.
Posted by: jim hamlen at November 17, 2006 10:12 AMThat's what THEY want you to think Jim H.
Posted by: Jim in Chicago at November 17, 2006 10:18 AMAllah is great!
Posted by: Phil at November 17, 2006 10:40 AMHas feedburner supplanted the rtf feed?
Posted by: Mike Beversluis at November 17, 2006 2:17 PMSpeaking of feeds. I signed up to receive a "feed" by email. Has that started yet? I don't know what to expect.
Posted by: erp at November 17, 2006 3:29 PMWHAT ? ! ? I demand a re-count!
Posted by: obc at November 17, 2006 4:05 PMMike - Yes the feed is available through Feedburner now. There are no ads and the full text is there, it just provides formatting, easier subscription, and gives me an idea of how many people are using it.
ERP - Yes, the email subscription is being sent out. I subscribed, and have been getting it (though obviously not while the site was down.) If you subscribed and aren't getting it, you may want to check your email spam filters.
All - I was dismayed that the site had to go down right at election time!
Posted by: The Other Brother at November 17, 2006 7:22 PMSome how I am getting the RSS feed of posts, but no comments. Is this correct, or must I activate something else to have the comments included? I'm using Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.11.
I also re-registered for the email and received confirmation that my account is active.
Sorry for being so dense. I figured it out.
Posted by: erp at November 18, 2006 12:18 PMERP - Comments aren't part of the RSS feed.
Posted by: The Other Brother at November 19, 2006 10:39 PMI added a redirect for the rdf feed, so it will work, but it just points to the feedburner feed.
