Creator of Stove Top Stuffing Dies (RYAN LENZ, 11/23/05, Associated Press)
Ruth M. Siems, a home economist who helped create Stove Top stuffing, a Thanksgiving favorite that will be on dinner tables across the country this year, has died at 74.Siems, who worked for General Foods for more than 30 years, died Nov. 13 in Newburgh, Ind., after suffering a heart attack in her home.
Siems helped develop Stove Top in 1971 while working at General Foods' technical center in White Plains, N.Y. She was listed first among four inventors when the patent was awarded in 1975 for the quick and easy way of making stuffing without actually stuffing a turkey.
Kraft Foods, which now owns the Stove Top brand, sells about 60 million boxes each year around Thanksgiving.

If you can avoid having the turkey stuffing ever actually in the turkey, you can cut down on a whole lot of later gastrointestinal problems for all the diners.
Hence, the genius of Siems and the marketing folks at General Foods.

San Francisco Sourdough Stuffing from Stove-Top is the best quicky non-potato accompaniment to fried chicked or grilled pork chops you can find.
It's even better cold for breakfast the next day.
Trust me on this one, you know I love to cook!

The first time I saw Stove Top Stuffing, made on the stove and served in a bowl, I immediaterly recognized it at the Pennsylvania Dutch bread filling we eat in this part of the country.
I'm sure that marketing it as "stuffing" was a stroke of genius.
