Peretz: French UNIFIL say will fire at IAF overflights (Gideon Alon, Haaretz Correspondent and Haaretz Service, 10/17/06, Haaretz)

Commanders of the French contingent of the United Nations force in Lebanon have warned that they might have to open fire if Israel Air Force warplanes continue their overflights in Lebanon, Defense Minister Amir Peretz told the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee on Monday.

So Israel gets the Left Bank to go along with the West Bank, and Jaques Chirac and his rebels start staging cross-border raids from the safe harbor of Switzerland.

Yes, but John, there would be no cross-border raids.

The French way is to collaborate, and wait for the Brits and/or Yanks to bail them out.

Once that happens then they pick a few scapegoats, shave the heads of those scapegoats if female, string them up if male, and the rest all claim to have fought in the resistance.

It's the French way.

Are you sure this is a real news story? This sounds like a strategy devised by the South Park underpants gnomes:

Phase One: Shoot at Israel.
Phase Two: ?
Phase Three: Peace in Middle East.

Or maybe this is the Hamas strategy - it's hard to tell sometimes.
