A FELLA COULD LEARN TO LIKE THAT CANCELLATION SHTICK:

Emirates cancels order for 10 Airbus A340 planes (AFP, 27 October 2006)

Emirates airline has cancelled an order for 10 long-range Airbus A340-600 planes plus the option of 10 more, its president Tim Clark told reporters gathered at Heathrow airport on Friday.

Dropping the A340 is the warning shot. They can easily be replaced with 777s.

The next step is the big (no pun intended) one. And how low will Airbus cut the price to keep the orders? How much maintenance will they have to give away? Or will Singapore, Emirates, and the others ask for some free A350s thrown in with their A380s? Will Chirac and the Germans fund Airbus ad nauseum, no matter the losses?

Why not? They have to pay their employees until 2012 anyway. Who knows the tide may turn in their favor after all "Global Warming" is melting the ice caps causing the water level in the oceans to rise and a rising tide ...

One more cliché, dealing with the EU is almost unsportsmanlike -- almost like -- shooting fish in a barrel.

Perhaps after conservatives sweep the UK and the US, even the euroweenies will have had enough and a strong leader will emerge to lead them back to planet Earth.

jim:

Below their own costs. It's a state job program, not an airplane company.
