THE REAL DIFFERENCE (via Mike Daley):

Madonna's "Crucifixion" To Be Broadcast By NBC(Access Hollywood, September 18, 2006)

NBC's November Sweeps schedule includes crucifixion footage from Madonna's "Confessions" tour.

The spectacle, which occurs during her chart-topping "Live To Tell," features Madonna donning a crown of sparkling thorns and descending to the stage while mounted on a mirrored cross - evoking images of both the biblical and disco eras.

"We viewed it and didn't see it as being inappropriate," NBC said.

This will nicely illustrate the real difference between Christians and Muslims as NBC will be forced to cancel this stunt. Power trumps passion.

oj,
No way will this be cancelled, NBC will never be beholden to Christians! They would never show the "cartoons", but who, that matters, gives a hoot about Christians?

Yes I suspect you're right. No doubt some Christianist (tm Andy Sullivan) will gun down an NBC exec a la that poor nun in Somalia. After the violent protests as the crowds spill out of Sunday Mass of course, whipped into a frenzy by their priests.

Hey, remember that fatwa against Marty Scorcese folllowing Last Temptation? Is he still in hiding?

(The moral equivalency march goes on and on and on and on)

Scorcese's film demonstrates the point. Because Christians are sufficiently powerful and properly intolerant it has never been shown on broadcast television in America.

Mike:

Advertisers. I'll bet you an A's hat that NBC doesn't televise a Madonna cricifixion.

Surely you see the difference. And it's a difference that rather supports Benedict's point.

Posted by: Jim in Chicago at September 18, 2006 10:07 PM

Yes, the difference is that we are powerful enough to get our way most of the time and to shrug it off when we don't. Islam is so weak that its adherents are frustrated to the point of incoherent rage.

Eight-inch screw nails and a high-speed Black and Decker power drill might give this show some redeeming qualities...

Well done! Those pathetic clowns have no power. Their every breath is on our sufferance, and they know this very well. Should our patiernce be exhausted, their French friends will avail them nothing.

oj,
Rather than an "A's" hat, I'll send one of the really great "River Cats", hats

Well hi there, creature from Planet NBC.

Betcha that NBC spokesperson wouldn't bet his house on less than seven of ten randomly selected passersby saying the same thing.
