Britain’s ‘Asian economy’ is growing at three times the rate of that of the UK as a whole, the country’s third largest bank said on Monday identifying "a significant shift" in Asian wealth creation away from being shopkeepers to high-tech service providers.

The new report, titled ‘Asian entrepreneurs in the UK’, analysed the wealth of the UK’s 200 richest Asians between 1998 and 2005. It concluded that ‘real’ Asian wealth increased by 69 per cent compared to the UK’s overall GDP growth of 22.8 per cent.
