AS LONG AS HE'S NOT CRANKING THE CURE:

Bush reads Camus's 'The Stranger' on ranch vacation (AFP, Aug 11, 2006)

US President George W. Bush quoted French existential writer Albert Camus to European leaders a year and a half ago, and now he's read one of his most famous works: "The Stranger."

He'd be better off reading The First Man.

It is better to be wrong by killing no one than to be right with mass graves. -Albert Camus

Better for whom.

Eastern Europe, to begin with.

Remember Clinton's glib answer about foreign policy problems - "I would always ask - can we kill them tomorrow?"

The problem is that it may just cost a heckuva lot more to kill them tomorrow. 1936 would have been much cheaper than 1939, no?

Assad dead today is probably cheaper than tomorrow. Certainly Saddam dead in 1991 would have been better than 2003.

I don't care if Monday's blue
Tuesday's grey and Wednesday too
Thursday I don't care about you
It's Friday, I'm in love

Monday you can fall apart
Tuesday, Wednesday break my heart
Thursday doesn't even start
It's Friday I'm in love

Saturday, waits
And Sunday always comes too late
But Friday, never hesitates...

I don't care if Mondays black
Tuesday, Wednesday - heart attack
Thursday, never looking back
It's Friday, I'm in love

Monday, you can hold your head
Tuesday, Wednesday stay in bed
Or Thursday - watch the walls instead
It's Friday, I'm in love

Saturday, waits
And Sunday always comes too late
But Friday, never hesitates...

Dressed up to the eyes
It's a wonderful surprise
To see your shoes and your spirits rise
Throwing out your frown
And just smiling at the sound
And as sleek as a shriek
Spinning round and round
Always take a big bite
It's such a gorgeous sight
To see you eat in the middle of the night
You can never get enough
Enough of this stuff
It's Friday, I'm in love

I don't care if Monday's blue
Tuesday's grey and Wednesday too
Thursday I don't care about you
It's Friday, I'm in love

Monday you can fall apart
Tuesday, Wednesday break my heart
Thursday doesn't even start
It's Friday I'm in love

Yes, assassination ought be our first option in foireign affairs. No leader we find intolerable ought be suffered to live that mass killing may be avoided.
