Senate Democrats reacted angrily to a report Sunday that the U.S. commander in Iraq had privately presented a plan for significant troop reductions in the same week they came under attack by the GOP for trying to set a timetable for withdrawal.

Posted by: Jayson at June 26, 2006 11:59 AMThe GOP's stance is perfectly clear, and not hypocritical. The key word here is "they".
As in, the US COMMANDER has presented a plan for troop withdrawls. The difference between a plan "presented" by the US Commander, and a plan "presented" by, um, Congressional Democrats is so obvious as to require no further elaboration.
When "US Commanders" start presenting plans for immigration and tax reforms, then I think congresspeople can go right ahead and bitch away.
