IS IT EVEN CRIMINAL? (via Bryan Francoeur):

Fans killed for cheering too much (AP, 6/14/06)

Thai police are searching for a gunman who shot and killed two soccer fans at a beach resort after complaining they were cheering too loudly during a broadcast of Italy's World Cup opener against Ghana, officials said Wednesday.

He should have watched it at a bar in America--turn it on and you'll be able to hear a pin drop after the place empties.

Maybe in whitebread New Hampshire oj, but Poland plays Germany today, and the bars on the northwest side will be rockin. No doubt all those possibly illegal Poles, taking American jobs no doubt, and supporting soccer, don't appeal to your nativist sensibilities tho.

They'll all be at the Mo Drabowsky memorial service.

My sister-in-law's boyfriend, Irish lad in the country 5 years illegally working construction before his boss sponsored a work visa last year, works mostly with Poles and Mexicans. Last Friday, the first day of the world cup, he noticed that all his workers had disappeared for lunch and not returned. He found 6 guys crammed into one car with a plasma tv plugged into the cigarette lighter.

Girls, girls you're BOTH pretty!
Can't we just agree that both your respective sports are equally dull?

Too bad you can't listen to soccer on the radio.

If there are half the soccer fans this blog touts in the U.S., there would be a huge market for real time soccer pod casting. Make your fortune and provide succor to demented soccer devotees.

Bocce was very popular among first & even second generation Italians. Not so now.

These Poles and Mexicans will grow up too.

Soccer, the sport of the future.....and it always will be.

The closest came to winning an Intramural championship in college was playing bocce, but the Buildings & Grounds staff cheated. We should have adopted it rather than the immigrants dropping it.

Bocce is a delightful game. We play it with the Cub Scouts.

I don't even know what Bocce is. But then I'm fourth generation Italian.

A nice place to visit in central Florida is a charming town named Mt Dora (elev. 50'). There are bocce courts overlooking a beautiful lake also nice antique shops and an elegant 1920's style inn. Good food too.
