BUNS UP:

Gay TV network goes dark at last (Larry Buhl, May 26, 2006, PlanetOut Network)

After lingering on life support for months and fueled by promises that solvency was just around the corner, the Q Television Network officially ended transmission Thursday.

Another thing of which folks actually have had enough.

I guess they will have to be satisfied with watching Charlie Gibson and re-runs of Tom Brokaw, Dan Rather, and Peter Jennings.

Hmmm. Re-runs? The news is pretty much the same as in decades past - just change the names and the locations. Bashing America in general - and Republicans in particular as before.

Other than creating a self-segregated ghetto, what's the point of a "Gay" network when every other network is saturated with homophilia? So exactly what content did it provide that was so "gay" that only they could provide? Fill in your own "homophobic" joke here, but really, how do you make money selling "we're so gay!" when everyone else is, too?

Mr. Ortega, I'll bet the marketing was geared to branding the "lifesyle".

Maybe gays just want to live their lives in peace like the rest us.

Well, HGTV is still on.

Mrs. Erp, some may want to live their lives in peace, but there is a large fraction marching in parades, in a desperate attempt to? Make their mothers cry? I don't know.

If they did they'd shut up.

Point of fact a lot of people who look like me are marching at anti-war rallies, carrying obscene signs or having candle light vigils outside of prisons protesting the execution of brutal murderers.

I accept no responsibility for what others do even though some people would put us in the same category.

We already get 14 re-runs a day of "Will and Grace", so what's the point of a gay network?

We get the endless stream of "While You Were Out","Trading Spaces"and "What Not To Wear", of which my wife doesn't think the guy Clinton is gay.

pchuck;

Those are wonderful shows. They create the time of unobservance that I need to read and post here.

AOG, Yes and from my perspective the second world war being reenacted 24/7 and ditto for sporting events allows me to sit with my roomie, laptop at the ready, and have a wonderful time surfing the net while he surfs the tube.

On the nonce we both set our eyes on a previously taped show or watch a video from netflix . . . and my kids think we should get out more. Poor befuddled creatures, it doesn't get better than this as they'll find out if they're lucky.
