Australia overrules gay union law (BBC, 6/13/06)
Australia's conservative national government has overruled a local law allowing gay unions.Posted by Orrin Judd at June 13, 2006 8:29 AMThe Australian Capital Territory (ACT) became the first part of the country to legally recognise gay relationships when it voted on the issue last month.
But now the federal government has stepped in to invalidate the new law.
Attorney General Philip Ruddock said that federal law clearly defined marriage as being only between a man and a woman.
Aussie Aussie oi oi oi!

Getting Gay marriage in the public eye just as the pendulum starts swinging back. Working their buts off to be the offical scapegoat for the end of marriage. Dumb.........

I would prefer they just lose and Republicans could move to more appropriate issues to demagogue.
Posted by: h-man at June 13, 2006 4:01 PMMr. Bruno, I do think they are winning, I just don't think they will win. When the tide goes out again(it always does) there'll be a lot of very unhappy, exposed people stuck on the beach. We have a very long way to go before those who think that swapping shit is a beautiful expression of love are celebrated.......
