WHAT? THEY HAVEN'T HAD ENOUGH?:

Colombia's Uribe wins second term (BBC, 5/29/06)

Correspondents say his tough policies against drugs and militants paid off.

There was no major violence on election day, after huge numbers of security forces were deployed, and Farc rebels pledged not to interfere.

With nearly all ballots counted, Mr Uribe had 62% of the vote - well over the 50% needed to win in the first round.

He pledged to carry on his tough conservative policies.

A Boston Globe article today stated that the election ensured "four more years for the Bush administration's most loyal ally on a continent dominated by leftist governments." Why was Uribe not described as the most loyal ally in South America of the United States rather than of the Bush administration? Does it bother others as it does me that the MSM commonly refer to our government's policies or interests as being those of the Bush administration rather than those of the United States?

GER:

Ever notice that there's never a Democratic Congress? There's either Congress or the Republican Congress.

GER, bother? I am apoplectic about it that's why I have completely stopped reading the paper and watching television newscasts. Once in a great while I'll check out Brit Hume, but even that annoys me.

The LA Times described it as "Incumbent wins election in Columbia", on page 14 or 15, it small print. But I remember Evo Morales made the front page.
