Posted by Orrin Judd at May 25, 2006 8:43 AMHe's been real hot lately. Too bad Ortiz cooled down.
Posted by: pj at May 25, 2006 9:54 AMBernie's liner off Clement's ankle may not have been as hard a hit as Manny's moon shot off Johnson, but it was probably a bigger play in last night's game, because Randy looked as if he was about to repeat his bombing at the Stadium two weeks ago. The injury brought Clement down to Johnson's level for the next four innings.
Posted by: John at May 25, 2006 10:44 AMUnfortunately for you OJ, Manny only gets to play the Yankees another, what, 12 times?, this season.
Before this latest 6-game set his ops was well under the line, and that was with an obp 30-40 pts higher than one might expect given his average and career bb/pa.
But a couple of batting practice quality pitches by Wang, Proctor, and the Ghost of Randy will make any aging slugger look good.
More significantly, I can only say bahhaaaahhhaaaaahhaaaaaa. Jeez, what a pathetic performance by the Sawx in that series.
Did you see the lineup the Yanks played last night. Man, the Sawx are a bad team. And is there any team in the AL not located in KC with a worse bottom of the rotation? The Rays must be licking their chops in expection of Tubby "At Least I Might Be Better Than DiNardo" Wells going tonight.
Mel-kee, Melk-ee, Mel-kee.

Posted by: Raoul Ortega at May 25, 2006 11:07 AMWhen the Sox biggest problem is an Ortiz slump you know the Yanks are in for a long season. They don't even seem good enough to beat out the Chisox for the Wild Card.
Posted by: oj at May 25, 2006 11:14 AMUm, the Sawx have 2 huge holes in their team. A rotation that goes, at best, three deep. And that's if Bloody Sawk can actually regain some consistancy, and Mr. Blister can throw 200 innings for the first time in his career.
Meanwhile, up the middle they might be the worst team in the AL. With Tek in desperate need of either the clear or the cream (or both), a ss who hits like a pitcher, a 2nd baseman who's only hit vs the Yanks so far, and no centerfielder, still, the Sawx are in it deep.
They just lost a series at home to a team sporting an outfield of Terence "Do You Want Fries with That" Long, a 21 year old, and Ghost of Bernie, with Kelly Stinnett catching.
To paraphrase Churchill, the Yanks will be able to put a better team on the field in the morning, but the Sawx will be ugly all year.
The Sawx will be lucky to fend off the Orioles and Rays for third place.
