...JUST A LIFESTYLE CHOICE...:

Homosexual men boost increase in syphilis rate (Joyce Howard Price, 3/17/06, THE WASHINGTON TIMES)

The syphilis rate among U.S. men soared 81 percent between 2000 and 2004, primarily as a result of increases in reported cases among homosexual males, federal health officials reported yesterday.

While the rate among men nearly doubled during that time -- from 2.6 per 100,000 to 4.7 -- the syphilis rate among women fell from 1.7 to 0.8 per 100,000 from 2000 to 2003. It remained stable in 2004, marking the end of a 13-year decline.

"The vast majority of the increase is attributable to a resurgence of syphilis among men who have sex with men ... syphilis rates continue to increase among [this group]," said Dr. J.F. Beltrami and other authors of a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for HIV, STD and TB Prevention.

They also pointed out that sexually active bisexual men "likely contribute to syphilis among women."

So tell me again why we should be afraid of the sources of "second-hand smoke" but welcome and encourge the sources of this sort of "second-hand homosexuality."

Whatever else can be said about the homosexual lifestyle, it doesn't seem to promote health. There is a much higher rate of all STDs among homosexuals than among heterosexuals.

Further, it's apparently not good for their kids either. I've just run across a review of studies of children raised by homosexual parents done by George Rekers and Mark Kilgus, published in the Regents' University Law Review. You can read it here:

http://www.regent.edu/acad/schlaw/academics/lawreview/articles/14_2Rekers.PDF

Of the 36 studies they reviewed, almost all concluded that homosexual parenting has no ill effects on children. However, Rekers and Kilgus noted that all but one of the studies had major methodological flaws, non-random sampling and conclusions not warranted by the data.

There was one study by Paul and Kirk Cameron titled, “Homosexual Parents”, 31 ADOLESCENCE 757, 768, (1996), which was methodologically sound, but whose sample was too small. This small sampling makes their conclusions "suggestive" but not "conclusive."

However that may be, the conclusions are rather disturbing: Homosexual parenting is associated with disproportionate rates of homosexual orientation development, undesirable sexual experiences, a first sexual experience that was homosexual, and gender dissatisfaction.

They found that while less than 6% of males and 3% of females in the general population claimed to be bisexual or homosexual, 75% of adult male children and 57% of adult female children reared by homosexual parents claimed to be bisexual or homosexual.

The study also showed that a disproportionate percentage (29%) of the adult children of homosexual parents reported having been specifically subjected to sexual molestation by that homosexual parent, compared to only 0.6% of adult children of heterosexual parents. “Having a homosexual parent(s) appears to increase the risk of incest by a factor of about fifty.”

There's more. Go read it yourself.

Raoul:

Certainly homosexuals should be treated no better than smokers.

But should smokers be treated no better than homosexuals? A rhetorical question. I know your answer.

Both are victims of self-loathing and need our help.

Anyone here expecting a delivery from Sense of Proportion "R" Us?

L. Rogers:

Studies will say that homosexual parenting has no ill effects on children, but "ill effects" can be subjective. You stated: "Homosexual parenting is associated with disproportionate rates of homosexual orientation development, undesirable sexual experiences, a first sexual experience that was homosexual, and gender dissatisfaction." But many researchers do not consider such disturbing conclusions to cause "ill effects." So every study released perpetuates the myth that homosexual parenting is no different than the traditional kind.
