EVEN THE ONES WHO CAN WIN IN KS STILL THINK THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH IT (via Lou Gots):

House and Senate Override Governor Sebelius' Veto: Kansas Passes Right-to-Carry (NRA, March 23, 2006)

Both the Kansas State Senate and House of Representatives voted to override Governor Sebelius’ veto of the National Rifle Association (NRA)-backed Right-to-Carry legislation, Senate Bill 418, “The Personal and Family Protection Act.”

“After 12 years, it took a collective, bi-partisan effort to win this fight. Kansas now joins 46 other states who enjoy some form of Right-to-Carry,” NRA Chief Lobbyist Chris W. Cox declared.

The Kansas State Senate voted 30-10 to override Governor Sebelius’ veto of the Right-to-Carry legislation. Less than a day later, the Kansas House of Representatives voted 91-33 to sustain the override.

Gun rights roll forward on all fronts.

Conservatives would do well to remember that the intiative must be maintained. Even though the Democrats woould like the gun issue to go away, the gun people intend to keep the pressure on.

The right-to-carry revolution, long proceeding state-by-state is almost complete. Tort reform, thwarting the gun-grabbers' movement to legislate by litigation is an accomplished fact. Hunters' rights to access to public land and to be free from harassment are being advanced.

The next step is expansion of "castle doctrine" state laws clarifying when deadly force may be used in self-defense or in resistance to crime.

Through all this the NRA exhorts its members to watch the Supreme Court and to continue the campaign for "original intent" justices in the mode of Scalia and Thomas, and now, Roberts and Alito.

The NRA likes to say that one does not have to be a conservative Republican to be pro-gun, which is true enough, as we will join forces with all who are with us on guns. However, every conservative and every Republican should keep in mind that without the support of an engaged and energized pro-gun movement, the revolution is over.
