A STRATEGY FOR A GUINNESS COMMERCIAL:

Some Democrats Are Sensing Missed Opportunities (Adam Nagourney & Sheryl Stolberg, NY Times, 2/8/2006)

Mr. Bayh said, "I don't believe we will win by just not being them."

Ms. Pelosi of California, the House Democratic leader, did not dispute that argument. But, pointing to the Democratic strategy in defeating Mr. Bush's Social Security proposal last year, she said there was no rush.

"People said, 'You can't beat something with nothing,' " she said, arguing that the Democrats had in fact accomplished precisely that this year. "I feel very confident about where we are."

The Democratic leadership is proud to be going before the American people with nothing, thinking nothing is the best they have to offer. No doubt they're right. But is their best enough to win?

Now I've got images in my head of DNC running ads showing a cutout of John Kerry coming up with campaign ideas for the party and a cutout of Howard Dean shouting "Brilliant!"

Yes, John, they ran this strategy in 2004 - nominate a non-entity and offer only "secret" plans - and it didn't work.

"People said, 'You can't beat something with nothing,' " she said, arguing that the Democrats had in fact accomplished precisely that this year. "I feel very confident about where we are." Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant.

And another opportunity to put a worthwhile bandaid on SS down the drain. Clinton was the last one to do that in 2000 and was elected anyway. Brilliant Perot! Absolutely brilliant!

dumb, dumb, dumb.

They are going to learn what we property owners have learned about the local government wanting to float a bond issue & raise taxes. Each time the vote goes against them, don't sweat it---just keep putting it on the ballot over and over again until you manage to sneak it thru.

The dems have to keep fighting against the same Bush proposal over and over again, he'll just shrug and put it out for the next vote.

Um, like he just did in the new budget proposal.
