THE 38% PARTY:

Poll: Alito should sit on high court (CNN, 1/23/06)

A majority of Americans said the Senate should confirm federal appellate judge Samuel Alito's nomination to the Supreme Court, with just 30 percent opposing his confirmation, according to a poll released Monday.

Only 38 percent of respondents said they think a filibuster by Democratic senators would be justified, and about a third said they believe Alito would vote to overturn the 1973 Supreme Court decision that struck down state laws against abortion.

The CNN/USA Today/Gallup survey.. was conducted Friday through Sunday.

The 30-35% party: weekend polls always oversample Democrats.

It's absolutely shocking that 38% of this country believes a filibuster justified. That's moonbat territory. If I were Randy Andy Sullivan I'd be gobsmacked.

Jim: How many people do you think actually know what a filibuster is? Most probably just think it means voting against a nominee in some special Senatorial kind of way...

b: It is, in the special Senatorial way that allows the minority to win.

Well, Hillary said the HOUSE was a plantation; who knows, perhaps she thinks the Senate is a cathouse, or perhaps a cotillion, or maybe just an ante-bellum ball.

The ONLY reason Americans "want" Alito is they have no idea what he'd do if he got confirmed. And Repubs, most of whom habitually lie and cheat all over the floor, are only too happy to let Americans remain in the dark -- a special kind of REpub. deceit. It's a sad day for this country.

Athana;

Could it not be that having watched Senators Kennedy and Biden during the confirmation hearings, the American Street thinks "if those guys are against him, I'm for him"?
