OBLIGATORY CONFEDERATE COMPARISON:

At King Event, Mrs. Clinton Denounces G.O.P. Leadership (RAYMOND HERNANDEZ, 1/17/06, NY Times)

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, speaking yesterday at a ceremony honoring the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., compared the Republican-controlled House of Representatives to a plantation where dissent is not tolerated.

So she's Butterfly McQueen?

The Democratic members of the Senate certainly have tolerated well Senator Lieberman's statements about the Iraq, haven't they!

An understudy in "Miss Scarlet"? (Apologies to both M. Mitchell and A. C. Doyle.)

Mouth music for willing ears. Wonder what they would have said if a Republican used the event for politics?

Does that make the CBC the light-skinned house slaves?

This is a bit out of character, pandering (you should hear the homeboy accent from the audio) and cheerleading for the Klan with the tan (to paraphrase Walter Williams). The modern Democratic party is an embarrassment to the words of Dr. King.

Maybe someone should ask her if J.C. Watts was the gang boss.

Given what she has said about Iraq, her left wing probably needed burnishing - and this is how she chose to do it. Very revealing. And we all thought she might try to stay tacked to the right.

Hillary knows she can win the Democratic nomination without the support of the more fanatical left wing of her party. She knows she can't win election, either in the big state primaries or in the general election, without a big turnout of the black vote. So nevermind Butterfly McQueen, she'd do a 12-week road show tour of "Porgy and Bess" with Al Sharpton as the other lead if that's what it takes to keep that group of core party voters her husband relied on in the missus' corner.
