Iraq's WMD Secreted in Syria, Sada Says (IRA STOLL, January 26, 2006, NY Sun)

The man who served as the no. 2 official in Saddam Hussein's air force says Iraq moved weapons of mass destruction into Syria before the war by loading the weapons into civilian aircraft in which the passenger seats were removed.

The Iraqi general, Georges Sada, makes the charges in a new book, "Saddam's Secrets," released this week. He detailed the transfers in an interview yesterday with The New York Sun.

"There are weapons of mass destruction gone out from Iraq to Syria, and they must be found and returned to safe hands," Mr. Sada said. "I am confident they were taken over."

Mr. Sada's comments come just more than a month after Israel's top general during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Moshe Yaalon, told the Sun that Saddam "transferred the chemical agents from Iraq to Syria."

This is where the relationship between Assad and Ahmadinejad is helpful--after we do Syria we just claim the WMD was moved to Iran....

Only amateurs make up a pretext. The professionals know that a pretext can always be found.

Seems to me that Syria can easily be put on the backburner. It's Iran that needs to be defeated in detail first. I know a lot of people who feel Iran is a threat to us. I don't know any American who thinks Syria is.

Syria is easier and we need to do it. Khamenei will take care of Iran or else we'll do it in a few years when their nuclear program becomes significant.

oj - Their nuclear program is already significant. They've had nukes at least since 2004.

I agree with taking out Syria. Taking out Iran would also be good. We need to pick one and overthrow it, to build pressure on the others and reduce their ability to act against us stealthily.

syria just had their hole card flipped over, by the iraqi general. they should have coughed up the WMD on their own, a year ago, if they wanted to get off the hook. they didn't, and now can't.

Spoken with the confidence of a man many miles upwind of a major city.

Read expat in SE Asia's 1/11 posting.

Try by June.

Lobbing 1 to show they have them then giving Israel the "24 hours to get out of Dodge" offer.

It's amazing what you learn when you sell chili dogs to people.

Sandy, darling, can you translate that comment into english?

sandy is commenting on the web site she refered too. the guy sells hot dogs to iranian ex-pats and they have been telling her that iran will light one up (to prove they have them) and then tell israel to leave their land or else they will get one in tel aviv.
