Activists Abducted in Same Spot As Italian (ROBERT H. REID and DONNA ABU-NASR , 12/01/05, AP)

Four Christian peace activists held hostage in Iraq were kidnapped at the same place where an Italian journalist was abducted, raising the possibility one group carried out both attacks...

Yes, the putative victims.

The Italians paid a million $s for the journalist's release. I can only hope and pray that our response will be: "Millions for defense, not one cent for tribute."

They used to have taxi stand signs in certain of the more crowded sections of Manhattan, which would usually carry the notation "Pick up passengers here" for the cabbies. They ought to think about putting up a similar sign in Baghdad that says "Pick up hostages here" so both the abductors and their sympathetic victims will know exactly where to go.

If you saw the video of them, they certainly didn't look like they were fearful for their lives. This has been staged, perhaps to get some US troops killed when they attempt a rescue.

I hope they don't bother trying to free them. They got what they wanted - free publicity for their propaganda machine.

Didn't the "peace" movement in Israel take a hit when Rachel Corrie was bull-dozed?

Ms Corrie certainly did.

put out some disinformation that the hostages have transponders implanted in their heads, that can be used to find the place they are being held.

That is quite a 'hanging slider' you put out there. Or should I say 'cutter'?

If we do rescue them, we should charge them for the cost.

We already had peace activists in Iraq, they're called Marines.
