I love James Glassman and wish Bush would make him Treasury Secretary, but unfortunately, the font on TCS site is too small and I don't see an option to enlarge it, so I'll have to rely on oj posting interesting articles on this blog.

erp: Individual articles have a font size adjuster next to the headlines.

James Glassman of 36000 DOW FAME as Sec. of the Treasury? Uh huh..well at least he knows how to sell books.

In these irrationally exuberant times, it's getting harder and harder for the self-respecting pessimist to stay unhappy. So pervasive is the hope, so overwhelming the positivity, that without the firmest grip on your sullen perspective, you might actually lose it.

Thanks papaya, I'll check that out.

h-man. Is it you or I who has the sullen perspective.

Despair not. Or rather, I should say, despair away! Help is on the way.

Me. The DOW hasn't reached it's previous high in over 5 years. OJ is all bubbly about everything getting cheaper (including stocks apparently).

Thanks for the article. Makes me feel better knowing there are some sane people in the world.

BTW, perhaps you didn't know that Glassman wrote a book predicting the DOW would hit 36000, just before the DOW headed south.

Stocks are just undervalued.

Posted by: oj at December 12, 2005 6:43 PM

Was that before or after 9/11?

Posted by: erp at December 12, 2005 7:34 PM

Before, but I doubt that emotionalism centered on that event would still be holding stocks down.

erp - You can adjust text size in your browser. In Internet Explorer, it's View > Text Size > Larger.

Whoops - Just tried it at TCS and it doesn't work. Their up and down arrows do work, however.

Posted by: pj at December 12, 2005 8:59 PM

Thanks for the tips everyone. I found the up and down font size arrows at the top of TCS articles, so now I have hours more reading to do every day. Of course, I love it and may never get any work done around the here. Oh well. Heavy lifting? Isn't that what men are for?

oj. My Internet Explorer text sizing doesn't work on everything.

h-man.??? How can Glassman be held responsible for not being able to predict, and account for the circumstances following the most cataclysmic event to have ever happened to our country. You chide him because "you doubt that emotionalism centered on that event (9/11) would still be holding stocks down." Holding stocks down?

It's a miracle we haven't had a full scale depression considering that since 9/11 the left has waged a relentless disinformation campaign against the president while he's trying to take the fight to the enemy; fight a WoT; as well as two regular kinda wars; and bring democracy to the Middle East where they've been kiling each other since the beginning of time... and in his spare keep spending down; appoint people for federal jobs who satisfy every point of view on 360 degrees; defend his staff from a concerted attack by berserk special prosecutors; and countless other fronts too numerous to mention.

Cut Glassman some slack please. Besides being smart and charming, he's also adorably cute!
