Arabs in survey prefer France over United States (David R. Sands, Washington Times, 12/03/2005)

Arabs across the Middle East remain deeply skeptical of U.S. motives and policies in Iraq, and more than one in five would prefer to see France replace the United States as the world's only superpower, according to a major new survey released yesterday.

In other cutting-edge survey research, investigators have discovered that children prefer Cookie Crisp cereal to shredded wheat.

More than one in five

Which means, surely, less than 1 in four. The number of Middle-Eastern arabs who wish France replaced the US is therefore between 20-25%; the fact that nearly 80% don't indicates that either our PR is much better than I thought, or that Arabs are deeply cynical of the French.

OTOH, we can guess that nearly 3 in 4 US journalists would rather see Jacques Chirac or Dominique de Villepin as US President than George Bush. Will that 'story' ever get published? Nah.

This is the most hilarious thing we've seen since that one about the guy and the horse in Washington State.

One may ask what percentaqe of Nazis preferred Petain to Roosevelt.

Yeah, and I would like it if diamonds came out of my butt.

I wasn't aware that superpower status was up to a vote. I always thought that superpower states were those that, you know, actually HAD power and a military strong enough to project it.
