Pelosi endorses Murtha's pullout call (Brian DeBose, 12/01/05, THE WASHINGTON TIMES)

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of California said yesterday she now agrees with Rep. John P. Murtha's call to begin withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq immediately, adding that a majority of House Democrats also agree. [...]

"I believe that a majority of our caucus clearly supports Mr. Murtha," she added.

But not the No. 2 Democrat in the House, Minority Whip Steny H. Hoyer, Maryland Democrat.

U.S. military reports decline in suicide bombings in Iraq (Robert H. Reid, December 1, 2005, Associated Press

The U.S. military said Thursday that suicide bombings fell in November to their lowest level in seven months after joint U.S.-Iraqi operations west of the capital. [...]

Maj. Gen. Rick Lynch told reporters that suicide bombings fell to 23 in November, which he attributed to successful U.S.-Iraqi military operations against insurgent strongholds in the Euphrates River valley west of the capital.

"His weapon of choice is suicide bombers,'' Lynch said of the insurgents. "In the month of November: only 23 suicide attacks; the lowest we've seen in the last seven months, the direct result of the effectiveness of our operations.''

Note the next line from the WT story:

"But not the No. 2 Democrat in the House, Minority Whip Steny H. Hoyer, Maryland Democrat.
"I believe that a precipitous withdrawal of American forces in Iraq could lead to disaster, spawning a civil war, fostering a haven for terrorists and damaging our nation's security and credibility," he said."

The Bush Administration has the clear opportunity, with senior Dems talking out of both sides of their mouths, to make the point that these are not serious, stable people to be trusted with the nations defense.

Pelosi: "Withdraw immediately!"

Pelosi: "I vote NO to such a disgrace" (the immediate withdrawal motion).

America: "This woman does not have a functioning brain".

2006: GOP picks up 2-3 Senate seats, the House is a wash, and governorships stay about the same.

Kos Kids: "The sky is falling! The sky is falling! We need Feingold to save us!"

Followed by a 40-state GOP win in 2008.

Pelosi is counting on the big media outlets to help her out on this one, by pretending the 404-3 vote two weeks ago never happened. But while that may work for her hometown paper and TV stations, Democrats in less solid districts don't have the same luxury to go wandering off into Fantasyland without paying a real-world price.

Then vote on it, Nancy.

How does Pelosi's position differ from OJ's position regarding removal of our forces. Since he was for us never being there in the first place at least after the initial invasion and removal of Saddam.

The fever swamps of the Left discount the 403-3 vote as it was 'staged' (for once they're right) and because it wasn't Murtha's resolution.

So, okay Nancy, let's do it your way and vote on the Murtha resolution. I don't mind, go ahead and demand a vote tomorrow.
