IF THEY'D SUSPECTED THE RESULTS THEY'D GET WOULD THEY HAVE DONE THE POLL?:
In war-torn Iraq, unlike here, there’s optimism (Byron York, 12/15/05, The Hill)
Presumably without access to The New York Times, The Washington Post and television news, millions of Iraqis say their lives are better than they were last year, better than they were before the United States invasion, and will likely be better a year from now than today.Posted by Orrin Judd at December 15, 2005 12:36 PMThe news is in a new poll of Iraqis conducted by ABC News, Time magazine, the BBC, the Japanese television network NHK and the German magazine Der Spiegel.
When it came out, it seemed that one of its sponsors, ABC, could hardly believe its results.
So who is it that's in a bubble? Heads up and locked.
Posted by: Luciferous at December 15, 2005 12:46 PMJay Leno used the same line as York's opening paragraph as a joke about the New York Times' Iraq coverage on The Tonight Show on Tuesday.
The old line about politicians is that when they become the primary butt of the late night comedians' barbs, they're in trouble, but I would think when something as seemingly obscure to the bulk of American TV viewers as the New York Times' biased coverage on Iraq can become well enough know to be fodder for Leno's opening monologue, then the Times and the other media outlets need to think about whether or not their spin on Iraq is having the desired effect, or if it's just being brushed off as biased from the outset.

Posted by: obc at December 15, 2005 8:13 PMThis poll is a complete lie. If you actually believe it, you are ignorant. So there.
