GAYS 1 CHILDREN 0

Police warn author over gay comments (Sally Pook, The Telegraph, December 12th, 2005)

An author and broadcaster condemned as "sinister" yesterday an inquiry conducted by police over comments she made about homosexuals on a live radio programme.

Lynette Burrows, an author on children's rights and a family campaigner, took part in a discussion on the Victoria Derbyshire show on Radio Five Live about the new civil partnerships act.

During the programme, she said she did not believe that homosexuals should be allowed to adopt. She added that placing boys with two homosexuals for adoption was as obvious a risk as placing a girl with two heterosexual men who offered themselves as parents. "It is a risk," she said. "You would not give a small girl to two men."

A member of the public complained to the police and an officer contacted Mrs Burrows the following day to say a "homophobic incident" had been reported against her.

"I was astounded," she said. "I told her this was a free country and we are allowed to express opinions on matters of public interest. She told me it was not a crime but that she had to record these incidents.

"They were leaning on me, letting me know that the police had an interest in my views. I think it is sinister and completely unacceptable."

It sounds like the Gay mafia is alive and well.
What do you think?

But, you can call lesbians Dykes.

No, lesbians can call themselves "dykes". You do it and you are committing thinkcrime.

I wonder what percentage of people in England actually believe that leaving a young boy with two homosexual men is a good idea? (Or, as she said, leaving a young girl with two heterosexual men?) Probably far more than we would care to believe.

The real problem here is that homosexuality is defined by sexual acts. Period. Marriage was once defined by family, but now means nothing more than two people sharing the same address for nine months.

It's like abortion. The political issue is far more important than saving the lives of children. Who cares if kids are molested when a political issue is at stake?

Almost as if on cue the American Psychiatic Association has decided that now is the time to debate whether pedophilia should be reclassified as normal. They did almost the same thing regarding homosexuality aproximately 40 years ago and of course the rest is history.

Theway2K:

I think most gay and lesbian people have better things to do on a Monday morning than waste Police time bitching and whinging about a robust and balanced debate on talk radio - though "balance" in this case meant having a load of tosh screeched in both ears, usually at the same time.

ahh, Craig, "most" but not "all".

The APA can remove pedophilia from their list of mental diseases, but it's highly unlikely that will result in legalizing it.

the real issue here is that the u.k. and the eu are sham democracies. when you organize your society along socialist lines, civil liberties are unprotected. this is why no socialist country, the uk included, can be a true ally of the u.s.

This thread reads like some sort of leftist parody of the far right. And, as we've discussed, that makes it unfunny.

Jon:

Um, I notice the linked story made no mention of the sexual orientation of the complainants - but that doesn't stop people going off about Toni Mezzo-Soprano and the rest of the "gay mafia". As the saying goes, when you assume you make an "ass" of "u" and "me".

I still have to slap down straight white liberals who patronise the rest of the human race by being permanently offended on their behalf. Back in the real world, I don't have the time or the energy to worry about trivia.

FWIW, after listening to the audio of the show (link in the DT article) I was more offended by Mrs Borrows' apparent imability to make an argument as opposed to making a string of assertions. Wouldn't have made the cut in a half-decent high school debate team, sad to say.

not while David Souter, Anthony Kennedy, Ginsburg, Steve Bryer, and Stevens draw breath.
