BRUSHING UP FOR A CNN GIG?:

Gerhard brushes up on his English (in Wales) (Nick Britten, 08/12/2005, Daily Telegraph)

When Gerhard Schröder, the former German chancellor, decided to visit Britain to improve his language skills, he should have chosen to brush up on his geography.

Keen to better his English, Mr Schröder ended up on a course in the middle of the Welsh countryside.

He enrolled for private tuition at Park House, run by Charles and Ann Jackson, who for 20 years have been helping anyone from students to high-powered businessmen.

sadly we should probably experct him, like Gorbachev, to look to cash in here on his retirement.

Where could Gerhard land? He seems to be too charisma deficient for television. Some leftwing foundation? Teresa or Soros have a place for him?

erp:

You lnow how much Gorbachev pulls down here and he ain't exactly Bill Clinton in the charisma department.

I'll bet Howard Dean gets him to do ads for the DNC.

He could wear a weasel suit and be a team mascot.

But oj. Gorbachev saved the world.

And they're supposed to be smarter than we are.

Supposedly he's being wooed by Citigroup.

If they do hire him I'll cut up any credit cards of theirs.

Totally agree about Citigroup. Please post if Gerhard goes into U.S. banking. Lots of credit cards out there.

I bet he's just planning to write anti-American plays, like Harold Pinter, and win the Nobel Prize for Literature.

"Pension Deficit--one hundred billion Euros"

"German tab for French agricultural subsidies--two hundred billion Euros"

"Being cheered by adoring crowds of leftists for thwarting the cowboy--priceless."

Given Schroeder's political leanings, there's always some university, non-profit or political action committee out there willing to pay gobs of dollars to have him visit and lecture on the superiority of the European Union. If he learns how to speak better English, then he doesn't have to split the cash with a translator.

he was booted from power. nothing will replace that. he and clinton can go clubbing together and commiserate over their mutual irrelvance.
