GEE, HE SEEMS SO RETICENT:
Analyst says Wilson
'outed' wife in 2002: Disclosed in casual conversations a year before Novak column (Art Moore, 11/05/05, WorldNetDaily.com)
A retired Army general says the man at the center of the CIA leak controversy, Ambassador Joseph C. Wilson, revealed wife Valerie Plame's identity in a casual conversation more than a year before she allegedly was "outed" by the White House through a columnist.Maj. Gen. Paul Vallely told WorldNetDaily that Wilson mentioned Plame's status as a CIA operative in at least three, possibly five, separate conversations in 2002 in the Fox News Channel's "green room" in Washington, D.C., as they waited to appear on air as analysts.

The green room was large enough to contain the general and Mr. Wilson's ego? Impressive.
Posted by: Mikey at November 5, 2005 9:09 AMI heard the General, of whom I am a major admirer, on some talk show when driving around. He was not that clear in his assertion re: Wilson's statement so we need to be careful with it. He mostly provided heresay about Wilson bragging about his CIA wife. The host had to drag out of him a statment that Wilson made such a statement to him directly.
The point to me is that Wilson was a public figure well before his op ed. I was shocked at the incompetence involved in sending him on that errand given his profile.
Posted by: JAB at November 5, 2005 4:44 PMJAB: The only way it was incompetent was that if you're going to run a rogue operation attempting to undermine the White House, you should send someone who might be able to comprehend that certain things need to be done with an ounce of subtlety.
Posted by: b at November 5, 2005 5:19 PMWhat was Wilson shopping his wife around for? DCI under Kerry? I wonder if there's a Scott Ritter connection somewhere - they seem to be birds of a feather.
Posted by: ratbert at November 6, 2005 8:58 PMWilson's lawyer has contacted Vallely, apparently demanding a retraction or they will sue. Now, that would be quite a trial.
"Ms. Plame, can you tell us if you first met Joseph Wilson as part of a covert assignment - you know, a honey trap?".
"Mr. Wilson, how did your wife manage to keep a security clearance (classified, covert, license-to-kill, whatever) and you didn't? What did you do during the Democratic Clinton years?"
Posted by: jim hamlen at November 6, 2005 10:47 PMVallely was on Hannity today - he said the first e-mail he received from Wilson's lawyer contained earlier messages from Wison to the attorney asking "can we sue this guy?".
He got another e-mail about 1/2 hour later, demanding the first one be deleted. Too funny.
To satisfy Harry Reid, Pat Roberts shoud subpeona Wilson and Plame, and put them in front of the Intelligence Committee on live TV. They would take the Fifth so fast Carl Levin's combover would spin.
