NO, WAIT, KOFI'S THE LAPDOG:

UN raps Iran's anti-Israel rant (BBC, 10/29/05)

The UN Security Council has issued a statement condemning Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad over his call for Israel to be "wiped off the map".

It follows similar criticism by several countries and a rare rebuke from United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan.

The reality-based community has to be pretty disturbed that the net effect of the US and Britain going to war without the UN is that now Kofi Annan has them out in front of us on regime change in Syria and smacking down Iran.

Mmm, I know Rome wasn't built in a day but does everybody taking five minutes to say it isn't nice to threaten to wipe Israel off the map and then getting back to serious business spell a sea-change in world opinion?

I wonder if Brent Scowcroft considers Ahmadinejad to be stable?

It would be better if he was as stable as Arafat.

Obviously, I means "if he were ..."

it looks to me like the clown in iran has just given carte blanche to any pre-emptive strike anyone cares to make on iran. if the mullahs were smart they would dismiss him from office toute suite

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has essentially declared war on Israel. Preemption is now a cornerstone of foreign policy. If you were Ariel Sharon and knew that Iran was just a short time away from nuclear weapons could you wait until those missiles were in flight before acting to protect yourself?
Or were Ahmadinejad"s words merely a sign of how much domestic trouble the Mullahs are in. To instruct their puppet to make such a belligerent statement speaks to the need for them to continue to deflect their citizens attention from their own miserable status.
I don't envy Sharon's position.

If Ahmadinejad really did help with the embassy takeover, the Guardians had better start watching their backs. Maybe Sharon, Bush, Blair, and Khameini need to have a meeting. Now that would certainly make heads spin.
