KATE AND KEN AND PRAY FOR BRAIN:

Harris Closing on Nelson in Fla. (NewsMax, 10/06/05)

According to a Wall Street Journal / Zogby International poll released Thursday, [Se, Bill] Nelson’s seat is vulnerable, as the senator consistently scores below 50 percent in various opinion polls.

Nelson – whose record in the U.S. Senate is, perhaps surprisingly, more liberal than Democrat Senate colleagues Hillary Clinton and Chuck Schumer – may be in for quite a battle in 2006.

The incumbent Nelson leads [Rep. Katherine] Harris in the "Battleground States Poll” with 47.9 percent to Harris’ 44 percent.

If the two people who stile the '00 and '04 elections both win on election night '06 we could get to see Howard Dean's head explode on national telvision.

I'd have thought Jeb would be going for this seat.

Martinez already has the other one and a Bush as Senator would keep the family profile high while prepping George P Bush for the spotlight.

Ali - candidates are figuring out that being a Senator is actually a detriment on the road to the White House. You have little power (unless you are there for a while) and you establish a vote/paper trail that can be used against you (see John Kerry). Jeb would easily carry Florida if he ran for president so why risk it by getting a no upside Senator job?

Ali:

He'll go straight for president.
