EVERYTHING'S GOING ACCORDING TO PLAN...:
White House Watch: Cheney resignation rumors fly (Paul Bedard, 10/18/05, US News)
Sparked by today's Washington Post story that suggests Vice President Cheney's office is involved in the Plame-CIA spy link investigation, government officials and advisers passed around rumors that the vice president might step aside and that President Bush would elevate Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
It's as good a pretext for the inevitable as any. Posted by Orrin Judd at October 19, 2005 1:20 PM
No way Cheney steps aside for a very minor (if any) scandal. It will be for health reasons or to take on a very big project (gulf coast reconstruction) that would take up too much of his time as VP.

Excuse me, but's it's not. If the man has done nothing wrong, why should his reputation be sullied and the media allowed to display his head on a stick?
Posted by: Raphe at October 19, 2005 1:39 PMWhen press people like Bedard start believing their own fantasies, and using rumors they started are proof that the rumors are true, they really need to find a new line of work.
Posted by: Raoul Ortega at October 19, 2005 2:35 PMGosh darnit, I nearly made a post several days ago stating that Fitzgerald is all part of the Bush plan to choose his successor by having Cheney step aside. But mine was going to be a parody wondering why oj had missed the obvious true subtext of Plame-gate...
