Priscilla Owen, Edith Jones and Edith Brown Clement, all three from the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, and Janice Rogers Brown, of the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, are considered by conservatives to lead the list of potential female nominees.

Posted by: ghostcat at September 7, 2005 11:47 AMPre-emptive strike -- saying this now means if a woman is nominated, she can immediately be dismissed as a "token" selection, in hopes of warning the women of American not be fooled by this transparent Republican deception (of course, if Condi Rice was nominated and elected president in 2008, there would still be stories on Inauguration Day 2009 warning people that this was just a "token" selection, and the women of America shouldn't be fooled by this transparent Republican deception).
