JUSTICE SHOPPING:
Supreme Court may hear abortion case (The Associated Press, September 26, 2005)
The Bush administration has asked the Supreme Court to reinstate a ban on a procedure that critics call "partial birth" abortions, setting up a showdown that could be decided by the president's new choice for the court.
That'll give Justice Gonzales a chance to rule in favor of the pro-life movement before the mid-term election. Posted by Orrin Judd at September 26, 2005 4:32 PM
Upholding a ban on partial birth abortions hardly counts as pro-life; merely as pro-sanity, or anti-infanticide. To qualify as pro-life, at a minimum he would have to overthrow Roe v Wade and return abortion law to the states.

Posted by: pj at September 26, 2005 7:07 PMI agree with the general idea that what the Republicans need to do to keep winning elections is to give to give us a coonskin on the wall.
They have been getting a lot of backing from a lot of social conservatives whom they need to keep in the fold. If the message is that it has all been a scam and that the baby-murder will continue as usual, all bets are off and the stage is set for a Carter Democrat. They must remember that we are watching and that promises must be kept.
