HEALTH CARE?:
45 Bodies Are Found in a New Orleans Hospital (KIRK JOHNSON, 9/13/05, NY Times)
The bodies of 45 people have been found in a flooded uptown hospital here, officials said Monday, sharply increasing the death toll from Hurricane Katrina and raising new questions about the breakdown of the evacuation system as the disaster unfolded.
One would hope at least one of the bodies will turn out to belong to an attendant, rather than they all be patients. Posted by Orrin Judd at September 13, 2005 6:40 AM
If so it will probably have a Salvation Army uniform on.
Posted by: Genecis at September 13, 2005 11:47 AMA British paper reported (which DOES NOT make it true) that patients were given lethal doses of morphine by hospital staff as the waters rose. I truly hope the story is false.
Posted by: Luciferous at September 13, 2005 11:54 AMI doubt that the total number of dead in NO will
even reach 1000 and not the 10,000+ they predicted. Someone should check the names of the dead against the voter registration in the next election too.
If true, it's ridiculous. Supposedly drowning is relatively painless, I have my doubts. But a hospital that can give a lethal dose of morphine, can also simply sedate a person so they can drown while asleep. Why on Earth would it be necessary to deliberately kill them?
