Actor Ron Silver says he has had fewer movie offers and dinner invitations since he parted political company with his Hollywood colleagues and spoke at the Republican National Convention last year.But he is sinking his teeth into his new role: conservative activist. Today, Silver will release a documentary on DVD called "Broken Promises," a scathing criticism of what Silver considers the failures of the United Nations on its 60th anniversary. It follows on the heels of a DVD retort last year by Silver to Michael Moore called "Fahren-hype 911," carefully named so it would be placed on video store shelves right next to Moore's anti-Bush documentary, "Fahrenheit 9/11."
"Broken Promises" has at its root the betrayed vision of an idealistic youth from the Lower East Side.

o/t -- If we ever do another pet peeve post, I'd like to add, articles that don't warn you before you start reading them that you can't finish reading them unless you subscribe. I've practically stopped going over to NRO and a couple of others websites because it annoys me so much. Thank you. I had to get that out of my system.
I admire Ron Silver for standing up for his values and wish him luck in this effort, but I can't see how more than a minuscule percentage of the public will ever see it. There should be a way to force PBS to show it in the spirit of fairness in broadcasting and keep repeating ad infinitum like they do their left leaning documentaries.
It's amazing that Silver has had this epiphany. I remember at Clinton's first inauguration, Silver was standing right behind Clinton and when the jets flew over to honor the new president, Silver could be seen and heard clearly saying, "What are those f**king jets doing here? Followed by, "Oh, they're f**king jets now." To my knowledge, that footage was never shown on TV again, although I bet it exists in someone's video library.
Of course, it should read, ... they're OUR f**king jets now.
