THEY NEVER BOUGHT IT IN TN:

Frist backs 'intelligent design' teaching (ROSE FRENCH, 8/19/05, Associated Press)

Echoing similar comments from President Bush, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said "intelligent design" should be taught in public schools alongside evolution.

Frist, R-Tenn., spoke to a Rotary Club meeting Friday and told reporters afterward that students need to be exposed to different ideas, including intelligent design.

"I think today a pluralistic society should have access to a broad range of fact, of science, including faith," Frist said.

Frist, a doctor who graduated from Harvard Medical School, said exposing children to both evolution and intelligent design "doesn't force any particular theory on anyone. I think in a pluralistic society that is the fairest way to go about education and training people for the future."

Desperately trying to get back in the good graces of the Right after his embryo debacle.

He ought to be covering his tracks about his Schiavo debacle.

You guys killed her, no?

He's not a politician, which is probably a good thing (for him), but not so good when he is Majority Leader. He wouldn't have been President in any case.

Meanwhile, I'm a bit surprised Trent Lott has apparently written a bitter memoir. When you self-immolate, you really can't complain that fire is hot and burns. Where does he think he will get sympathy? Not from today's GOP. He could always switch parties to try to impress the media hive, though.

We should make all our scientific debates political issues. Lets tap into the vast wisdom of the common folk to solve the dark matter debate. Or better yet, maybe we can finally derive a unified field theory in the '06 election.

Robert:

They are, that's all a paradigm shift is. The scientific theory of any given day is just a function of the prevailing culture.

Had Terri's last name been Silverstein, would you have felt differently about the legal process?

He hates the religious of all stripes, but has sense enough to keep quiet about Jews. You can be Christophobic and Islamophobic without getting in trouble.

What do you think you know about my opinion of the legal process with respect to Schiavo?

I've never said a word about it.

I don't care what you think of the legal process. I know what you've said here about her and her murder.
