SOMETHING TO ANNOY EVERYONE

U.S. agent accused of aiding illegals (Jerry Seper, THE WASHINGTON TIMES, 8/10/05)

A U.S. Border Patrol agent accused of being an illegal alien and smuggling other illegals into the United States faces a bail hearing today in federal court in San Diego.

Oscar Antonio Ortiz, 28, a Mexican citizen born in Tijuana, is charged with using a fraudulent birth certificate to obtain a job with the agency in 2001 and alien smuggling. The numbered certificate claimed he was born in Chicago, although authorities have since discovered it belonged to a man born a month earlier. . . .

Law-enforcement authorities said Mr. Ortiz and another unidentified Border Patrol agent became the targets of an undercover investigation after they were overheard on intercepted telephone conversations discussing on "many occasions" the smuggling of migrants into the United States through a border area near Tecate, which they patrolled.

I'll admit that this reflects badly on both illegal immigrants and border security if the anti-immigrationists among us will admit that mass-deportations might be difficult to bring off.

Mass deportations difficult? Sure, but I'd be happy if they just started small: gang members, dangerous criminals, etc. No need for agents to charge into elementary schools to drag kids out, which what pro-illegals want everyone to think deportation means.

Michael Chertoff is rounding up gang members.

Many of us are anti-cheating and anti-fraud without being anti-immigrant.

I don't care whether immigrants are 'legal' whatever that means or not, I only care that they want to come here to work and become unhyphenated Americans. It's the bad guys we want to keep out. The 9/11 terrorists weren't illegals, they were all here on some kind of visa or another.

I don't care if the ACLU jumps up and down and holds its breath, all those coming into the country must be identified, finger prints, eye scans, DNA, everything. If they object, then it's sorry, you can't come in.

I don't care either if the US becomes totally 'colored' in a hundred years or sooner for that matter. I only care about the security and safety of my grandchildren and that we leave them the land of the free and the home of brave, intact and in working order.

We don't need massive deportations. Once employers shall be penalized sufficiently for hiring illegal aliens, the illegals will start to migrate back to where they came from.
