WHO GETS TO FRISK AMELIE?:

Mystery of missing garden gnomes puzzling (The Associated Press, July 19, 2005)

GREELEY, Colo. --The mystery of the missing garden gnomes may prove harder to solve after all.

Police found about 80 of the pint-sized figurines stashed in black plastic bags and surrounded by youngsters on Saturday, but investigators don't think the children stole them.

In fact, Sgt. Dave Adams said the children most likely found them, so it's back to square one.

It's the kids--mercury made them do it.

Travelocity publicity stunt?

Someone probably got the idea from an episode of King of the Hill. Peggy becomes a Gnome fetishist, which earns her more attention from admiring neighbors than Hank gets from his manicured lawn. Bobby accidentally breaks the gnome's ear off, and playing on Bobby's aversion to being caught, he and Bobby drive the gnome out to the woods under cover of night and bury it in a shallow grave.

Amelie kept her dad posted on where the Gnome was. It eventually led him to get out and around.

It's an very good movie.
