I see oj has linked to Lileks screed through ESR's Musings. For some reason the quicktime songs in the screed are blocked although I have quicktime installed and even installed the free preview of the pro version. QT is enabled on the set programs menu. I even disabled the Windows firewall thinking this might be blocking quicktime.

Please anybody. Help.

Thanks Peter B. I can access the file and I've read the screed. As always Lileks paints the picture.

It's the QT player that fades out. Same thing happened with your link. The blue QT logo comes up and then quickly fades into a narrow bar that is greyed out and inaccessible.

Mine started with the dull gray bar (no blue logo), but it played nonetheless.

Did it play spontaneously?

I uninstalled everything that had quicktime in it's name, searched and found more stuff to delete and lo and behold, came the music.
