METHODIST?:

You scored as Evangelical Holiness/Wesleyan. You are an evangelical in the Wesleyan tradition. You believe that God's grace enables you to choose to believe in him, even though you yourself are totally depraved. The gift of the Holy Spirit gives you assurance of your salvation, and he also enables you to live the life of obedience to which God has called us. You are influenced heavly by John Wesley and the Methodists.

OJ: Were you not aghast at your low score for "Classical Liberal" (redeemed only by a barely lower score for "Modern Liberal")?

Unsurprisingly, as a Roman Catholic, I scored 86 percent Roman Catholic and the lion's share after that as a Classical Liberal. As the son of a former Jesuit (before the order's sadass demise into homo-Marxism), I don't take everything in the bible literally and believe that God is more beautiful and loving than anyone can possibly imagine. Evangelicals (like my boss, who told me the real tragedy of the tsunami was that all those people were going to hell (because they believed in false religions) tend to scare me.

I thought the quiz was very badly designed: too many contradictory questions, where the first half of the question made one want to disagree strongly, yet the second half of the question prevention one from doing so.

The reformation was a mistake was it? LOL!

No. I'm not a classic liberal.

No, you're a completely idiosyncratic liberal.

You scored as Roman Catholic.

You are Roman Catholic. Church tradition and ecclesial authority are hugely important, and the most important part of worship for you is mass. As the Mother of God, Mary is important in your theology, and as the communion of saints includes the living and the dead, you can also ask the saints to intercede for you.

As always with these quizes, I submitted random answers.

You scored as Emergent/Postmodern.

You are Emergent/Postmodern in your theology. You feel alienated from older forms of church, you don't think they connect to modern culture very well. No one knows the whole truth about God, and we have much to learn from each other, and so learning takes place in dialogue. Evangelism should take place in relationships rather than through crusades and altar-calls. People are interested in spirituality and want to ask questions, so the church should help them to do this.

Posted by: Dave W. at June 18, 2005 4:20 PM

You scored as Fundamentalist.

You are a fundamentalist. You take the Bible as the foundation of your faith and read it very literally, and it shapes your worldview. Non-fundamentalist Christians have watered-down the Gospel in your view, and academic study of the Bible stops us from 'taking God at his word.' Science is opposed to faith, as it contradicts basic biblical truths.

Ali,

In Reformed lingo (which the Wesleyans were referencing), "total depravity" doesn't mean you're UTTERLY depraved-- it simply means that every category of humanness (knowledge, instinct, will, etc.) is SOMEWHAT depraved. (Each faculty is eroded to some degree).
