WHICH PARTY IS HE CHAIRMAN OF?:

Howard Dean endorses Bernie Sanders' run for U.S. Senate (EVAN LEHMANN, May 10, 2005, MediaNews Group)

Breaking party lines, former Gov. Howard Dean said Monday he supports Rep. Bernard Sanders' bid for the U.S. Senate, saying the Independent makes a "strong candidate."

"A victory for Bernie Sanders is a win for Democrats," Dean said in a telephone interview Monday.

Who knew that when he talked about appealing to the Red States he meant endorsing Socialism?

The Democrats are so full of hate for Republicans that, to sabotage Republican chances of gaining a Senate seat, they will abandon their franchise as the party of left-of-center voters. All Sanders had to do to scare Dem competitors away was be the first to announce.

Demmycrats in Vermont never contested St Bernard's position anyway. Getting Ho-Ho's blessing doesn't change anything.

VT may have been content to send a socialist to DC as one of 435 Congressman. They may think twice about sending him as one of the 100 Senators.

Even if the GOP doesn't pick up VT this action can be used to help the GOP prove how left the Dems are in states with better GOP pickup prospects.

I'm just in a pessimisstic mood today. Believe me, nothing would make me happier than to see Bernie go down in flames. But I have my doubts.

Similar to what AWW says, if Sanders wins then Republicans can proceed to refer accurately to the Democratic Party as the Democratic/Socialist party. That's what they have been for the past 70 years, but now Republicans can now proudly tell it like it is without having to bicker about the nomenclature.

I remember when Democrats hated Bernie. My high school social studies teacher was chair of the Burlington Democratic party back when Bernie was the Mayor. The Republicans on the city council Had a lot of power because the donks and Bernie's Progressive Coalition just couldn't get along.

There isn't a single Democrat in Vermont qualified to run for Senate? Who knew?
