SHOULDA SWITCHED:

Harold Ford Officially Enters '06 Senate Race (Fox News, May 25, 2005)

U.S. Rep. Harold Ford Jr. filed the federal paperwork Wednesday to become the second Democratic candidate in the 2006 U.S. Senate race.

Good candidate, but a Republican state.

He is going to have a really tough time. His uncle, a state Senator, has been in the headlines over a series of corruption allegations. His father, a former Conressman, assured full employmnet for Ethics Committee staffers. Harold Jr. took more free, foundation paid trips, than just about anyone else in Congress, though his were domestic.

It really is kind of sad. I think Harold Jr. is as clean as the rest of his family is crooked, and he is reasonably well liked here in East Tennessee, the strongest Republican part of the state. He could have credibly switched to the GOP and, if he had, he would be our next Senator.

Dumb move. We'll eventually have to dump Pelosi and then he'd be in the front runner for the Leadership/Speakership.

Dan, I'm from East Tennessee myself. Not living there currently. Is that jackass Van Hilleary still trying to get the Republican nomination? If so, the Republicans could lose this one.
