'Japan soldiers' found in jungle (BBC, 5/27/05)

Japanese officials are investigating claims that two men living in jungle in the Philippines are Japanese soldiers left behind after World War II.

The pair, in their 80s, were reportedly found on southern Mindanao island. [...]

The two men on Mindanao contacted a Japanese national who was collecting the remains of war dead on Mindanao, according to government sources.

They had equipment which suggested they were former soldiers.

Here in VT, we're still finding people who don't know that Howard Dean didn't win the nomination. Getting them out of their bunkers is real tricky, especially since we can't use flamethrowers anymore.

BAGHDAD, IRAQ -- Iraqi officials are investigating claims that two men found wandering in the deserts south of the Karbala Gap are "human shields" left behind after the 2003 invasion.

The pair, in their 80s, wore tattered Che Guevera tee shirts and carried faded protest signs which read "Bush = Hitler" and "Howard Dean 4 America." . . .

I've only read a few reviews, but are you sure you aren't reading a synopsis of an episode of Lost? (and based on the reviewers opinions, if it wasn't, it will be.)
