HASTE?:

Florida paedophile law is signed (BBC, 5/03/05)

Florida Governor Jeb Bush has signed a law to impose the harshest punishments in the US on child sex abusers.

The new law comes in the wake of the abduction and killing of two girls, allegedly by registered sex offenders.

Critics say the legislation - imposing mandatory sentences of 25 years to life for people who molest children under 12 - is draconian and was made in haste.

It'll be fun to hear the same folks who scourge the Church with abuse claims complain about punishing offenders.

Draconian? Castration, either chemical or actual, in addition to jail time would be just. Repeat offenders should be shot.

The only successful sex offender treatment I know of is 230 grains of lead, topically applied at the base of the skull.

While criminals ususally get the benefit of the doubt from the "root causes" left, mitigating circumstance such as joining up with a (insert racist, sexist, homophobic tag here) group like the Catholic Church can negate the normal sympathies the left has for non-white collar criminals, since their arrests and convictions can be used against the Church itself.
