BUT WHAT DO HIS MISTRESSES SAY?:

Blow to Chirac's Yes campaign on EU treaty as Mrs Mitterrand says No (Colin Randall, 12/05/2005, Daily Telegraph)

The campaign for a Yes vote in the French referendum on the European Union constitution suffered a setback yesterday when it emerged that the widow of the country's last socialist president, François Mitterrand, had withdrawn her support.

Speaking on France 2 television last night, Danielle Mitterrand, 80, called for a No vote, insisting that the treaty would entrench economic injustice across the continent.

"The constitution institutionalises another dictatorship which we reject," she said.

"It is a system which treats man like an economic object and forgets that he can think, and which generates the worst human misery - unemployment and pollution.''

Incoherent, but the result's right.

I still expect some questionable votes will help France get a yes on this question. Send Carter over to monitor the referendum (and have him stay).

Carter should be sent someplace that is disease-ridden with horrible food and worse weather, like North Korea or Bangla Desh.

Incoherent...

Well, she is French, isn't she?
